Discover how DICYP Engineers used Caneco BIM to save 4,000 engineering hours on a major hospital project

What best defines the BIM Elec solution for us is the reliability of the calculations and the continuous communication with the BIM model.
Marco Antonio Marcos Suárez, CEO

For the New Hospital del Salvador and National Institute of Geriatrics project in Chile, DICYP Ingeniería BIM was tasked with designing the electrical infrastructure for one of the country's most ambitious healthcare developments.

What were the challenges ?

The electrical design scope included:

  • 170,000 m² hospital complex
  • 9 electrical substations
  • 16 MW installed capacity
  • 10 MW contracted power
  • More than 500 electrical panels
  • More than 5,000 electrical circuits

The project's scale and complexity demanded seamless coordination among multiple disciplines while ensuring electrical calculations remained accurate and consistent throughout the design process.

According to DICYP Ingeniería BIM, delivering a project of this magnitude within the required timeframe would have been virtually impossible without BIM implementation and specialized electrical design software.

What solutions did they choose ?

After evaluating several BIM-compatible software solutions, DICYP Ingeniería BIM selected Caneco BIM based on two key strengths:

  • Highly rigorous and reliable electrical calculations
  • Support for multiple international standards and regulations

Integrated with Autodesk Revit and BIM 360, Caneco BIM enabled continuous synchronization between the electrical calculations and the digital model, ensuring data consistency throughout the project lifecycle.

To further optimize workflows and meet specific client requirements, DICYP Ingeniería BIM also developed complementary tools using Dynamo, APIs, and Python-based automation

What were the results delivered ?

Automated Routing of More Than 5,000 Circuits

Using Caneco BIM, DICYP successfully automated the routing of more than 5,000 electrical circuits.

This capability generated approximately 4,000 hours of engineering time savings—equivalent to nearly three years of manual work.

Large-Scale BIM Collaboration

Through BIM 360, teams located in Europe and Latin America collaborated simultaneously on a single digital model.

At peak activity, up to 200 users worked concurrently within the same BIM environment while maintaining real-time updates and data integrity.

Reduced Design Time and Human Error

The custom automation tools developed by DICYP helped:

  • Accelerate engineering workflows
  • Automate repetitive tasks
  • Minimize human errors
  • Improve overall project quality

Improved Construction Efficiency

By identifying and resolving issues during the design phase, DICYP was able to:

  • Reduce construction costs
  • Shorten project execution schedules
  • Improve installation quality and project outcomes

What did the customer think ?

The new Caneco BIM solution enabled us to route more than 5,000 electrical circuits. This represents approximately 4,000 hours of work, equivalent to nearly three years of engineering effort.
