Webinar Description

Although building Information Modeling (BIM) offers powerful solutions for project collaboration, during the design and engineering phases - particularly for electrical systems – reduced data quality and inefficient workflows can impact the project timeline.

This webinar presents a practical, cloud-based solution that overcomes these hurdles by using Caneco BIM and Caneco BT with Autodesk Revit® in an Autodesk Construction Cloud® (ACC) environment.

 Key Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the advantages of incorporating accurate electrical system for building projects within a centralized, cloud-based BIM environment
  • Discover how Caneco BIM synchronizes with the cloud-based model and leverages Caneco BT for cable sizing and circuit breakers
  • Understand how this solution enables the collaborative design of fully-compliant electrical systems including single lines, installation plans, circuit breaker curves, automated cable length calculations, alarm detection loops, among many others

The webinar includes an interactive Q&A session to address your specific challenges and requirements.

The presentation will demonstrate this efficient workflow within a sample commercial building project with LV and MV electrical installations to illustrate how to leverage the combined power of Caneco BIM and Caneco BT within a centralized BIM model within a cloud-based environment. The demonstration will show how Caneco BIM automates electrical calculations and precise cable routing, considering all existing objects in the BIM model, and synchronizes this data with Caneco BT. The capabilities of Caneco BT to produce and share complete documentation from the synchronized data will also be demonstrated, including single-line diagrams, Time-Current Characteristic (TCC) curves, calculation notes and bill of materials (BOMs), among many others.

Through the use of Caneco BIM and Caneco BT in this environment, the manual re-entry of data is eliminated, ensuring all calculation results and documentation are integrated in real-time into the shared digital model, thereby maintaining a single working file. This collaborative environment supports effective technical coordination to help prevent conflicts between MEP systems and structural elements. By centralizing electrical design information, all stakeholders stay informed, and quick decision-making can be applied when changes occur.

Who should attend

  • Electrical Engineers and Design Professionals working on the design and validation of electrical networks, creating single-line diagrams, schematics, and detailed documentation, performing calculations like short-circuit, voltage drop and load flow, and ensuring code compliance
  • Consulting or Design Office Engineers involved in the production or review of electrical documentation in a collaborative cloud-based environment
  • BIM Managers and Coordinators who oversee the integration of electrical data into the overall Building Information Model (BIM)
  • Electrical Contractors and Installers who are tasked with interpreting the technical documentation (BOMs, schematics) to ensure the final installation matches the calculated specifications
  • Project Managers evaluating how a cloud-based workflow can be used during the design engineering phase of a building construction project to improve collaboration, reduce errors, and speed up documentation delivery.
  • Anyone else involved or interested in the modern approach to design and engineering of commercial or large-scale electrical installations using BIM and cloud technology
