Irvine, California – November 4th, 2026 – ETAP®, a global leader in electrical digital twin software solutions, today announced Caneco 2026, the next generation of its Caneco engineering software line dedicated to low-voltage electrical design, calculation, and sizing.
As buildings and infrastructure become increasingly electrified, electrical installations are growing more complex. The expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, renewable energy integration, BIM requirements, and evolving electrical standards are driving engineering firms, designers, and contractors to work faster while maintaining confidence in their technical decisions.
In this context, calculation and design tools must evolve to support increasingly diverse electrical networks, more demanding regulatory requirements, and interconnected engineering processes.
With Caneco 2026, ETAP takes another step forward in low-voltage engineering, combining calculation intelligence, design flexibility, AI-assisted equipment data preparation, and electrical data continuity.
At the heart of this release is the new low-voltage module in Caneco Electrical, expanding the software’s ability to model, navigate and calculate complex electrical networks. It combines detailed circuit-level calculation settings with new tools for managing electrical panels and single-line diagrams. An AI-assisted agent also helps prepare equipment data from manufacturer datasheets.
“The value of electrical design software lies not only in the calculations it performs, but in the decisions it helps engineers make. With Caneco 2026, we are giving teams greater control over complex low-voltage installations, reducing repetitive data entry through AI, and improving continuity between design, BIM and project documentation. Our goal is simple: give engineers more time to apply their expertise, with tools that support their judgment rather than replace it,” said Adam Gasmi, Product Director for Caneco at ETAP.
The new low-voltage module is a central development in Caneco 2026, extending Caneco Electrical beyond its previous design capabilities with dedicated network calculation, sizing and protection coordination functions.
Engineers can now model and assess more demanding low-voltage configurations within Caneco Electrical, select protective devices and tailor calculation parameters at the individual circuit level. This supports more precise engineering decisions across installations with different operating conditions and network arrangements.
The Network Explorer helps users navigate the electrical network, while Electrical Panel management and Board Single-Line Diagrams (BSLD) make it easier to structure, visualize and review installation designs.
Circuit-level calculation options allow engineers to adapt sizing and protection settings to the requirements of each circuit rather than relying solely on project-wide assumptions.
The module also supports open low-voltage loops, single-phase photovoltaic inverters within three-phase installations, and three-level protective device coordination, capabilities that broaden the types of installations engineers can study within the application.
Together, these new capabilities help engineering teams:
Accelerate low-voltage electrical calculations and sizing.
Design more complex electrical networks with greater flexibility.
Improve the accuracy and consistency of protective device selection.
Strengthen control over applicable standards and calculation parameters.
Improve data exchange between electrical engineering applications.
Extend electrical design into BIM workflows, installation planning, and documentation.
Reduce manual equipment data entry in Caneco Electrical through AI-assisted extraction and review of manufacturer specifications.
Caneco 2026 innovations are organized around six major pillars combining calculation intelligence, standards, connected engineering, AI-assisted equipment data integration, and digital continuity.
The new low-voltage module in Caneco Electrical introduces dedicated network calculation and sizing capabilities, circuit-level settings, new network visualization tools and broader support for complex configurations. Caneco BT also benefits from calculation and sizing improvements.
Standards updates support evolving requirements across European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria (Caneco BT only). Enhanced calculation and protective device selection capabilities help engineers improve design reliability and make more confident technical decisions. In 2026, Caneco BT and the Caneco Electrical LV module obtained the right to use the ELIE BT 2025 mark.
Interoperability enhancements improve exchanges between electrical engineering applications and the broader ETAP ecosystem. A dedicated Caneco BT-to-Caneco Electrical gateway is under development; it is not included in the October 2026 release.
In Caneco Electrical, a new AI-assisted agent helps engineers extract technical specifications from manufacturer datasheets and review them before creating structured equipment data. Supported categories include PV panels, optimizers and inverters, UPS systems, rectifiers, and EV charging stations. This reduces repetitive manual entry while keeping engineers in control of project data. Datasheets are not used to train the AI model, and equipment created through the agent is visible only to the user’s account.
Caneco BIM 2026 enhances electrical data exchanges with building information models through new CSV import capabilities, bulk editing, intelligent link management, and improved cable length handling. These enhancements facilitate coordination between electrical design and BIM environments.
Caneco Implantation 2026 improves cable tray management, cable schedules, and bills of materials. New customization and export capabilities help transform engineering data into practical documentation for project execution.
Caneco 2026 brings together enhancements across four complementary products, addressing different disciplines and requirements in low-voltage electrical engineering.
Caneco Electrical, featuring the new low-voltage module for network modeling, calculation, sizing, circuit-level configuration and protective device coordination, plus AI-assisted preparation of structured equipment data.
Caneco BT, a leading solution for low-voltage electrical calculation and sizing, enhanced with standards updates and interoperability improvements.
Caneco BIM, a solution connecting electrical engineering data with BIM environments, featuring enhanced circuit management, cable handling, and data exchange capabilities.
Caneco Implantation, a solution dedicated to electrical installation layout, cable tray design, and the production of documentation required for project execution.
With the new low-voltage module as its centerpiece, Caneco 2026 combines more capable electrical network engineering in Caneco Electrical with standards, BIM, installation documentation and data-exchange improvements across the Caneco portfolio.
Caneco BT, Caneco BIM and Caneco Implantation are available in France, French-speaking Africa, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland, as well as through international markets, including China and the Middle East.
