ETAP Wins Lawsuit Against CYME
Jury finds CYME International T&D directly liable for willful false advertising, based on smear campaign against ETAP
The jury unanimously found CYME to be liable of willfully making false claims about the performance of ETAP’s software and awarded ETAP $8.42 million in damages.
For the past three years, CYME and its agent (posing as “Independent Power Engineers”) collectively have created and distributed false statements, including disparaging YouTube videos and emails distributed throughout the industry.
"We are pleased with the jury’s verdict in holding CYME accountable for its deceptive actions, and we trust our customers and the industry realize that these attacks against ETAP are false and not credible,” said Shervin Shokooh, ETAP’s COO. “ETAP stands behind the reliability, performance, and capabilities of its software which continues to be the industry benchmark for quality power systems analysis with impeccable verification & validation process.”
ETAP thanks its customers for standing by ETAP during the false smear campaign. ETAP remains a leader in electrical power system modeling, design, analysis, optimization, control, and automation software, and we remain dedicated to our mission of providing state-of-the-art products and superior engineering services by combining advanced technologies with the highest standard in quality to achieve overall customer satisfaction.
