Workshop Description

  • The purpose of this 4-day advanced workshop is to develop a more comprehensive understanding of ETAP analysis software with a focus on Protection, Coordination and Dynamic (Transient) analysis.
  • The topics covered in this workshop embrace fundamentals on power system dynamics and stability as well as protective device coordination.
  • Additional topics include; network modeling, steady-state and transient-state stability limits, simulation of system disturbances and actions, motor starting and acceleration, dynamic system parameters, common transient stability studies such as critical fault clearing time, protective device settings, bus transfer, load shedding, etc.
  • Attendees will acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience to conduct power system protection and dynamic studies for their own systems.
  • This workshop does not include any introduction on fundamentals of power system modeling in ETAP.
  • An ETAP workstation is provided for every attendee.

Who should attend

  • ETAP Advanced workshops are recommended for engineers who have taken prior ETAP workshops or are proficient with basic ETAP functionalities.
  • This workshop will allow the use of ETAP in more complex cases and learn how to fully utilize ETAP capabilities to conduct advanced studies most efficiently.
  • This course is recommended for users who have practical experience performing power system analysis and modeling.
  • Attendees should be familiar managing ETAP’s 3-Dimensional database, utilizing device libraries and comfortable using study scenarios.
