ETAP 273 IN

Dynamic & Transient Analysis - Advanced

3-Day Workshop
Aug 7 - 9, 2017
Chennai, India
Fee: INR 35,000

Workshop Description

  • The purpose of this 3-day advanced hands-on workshop is to develop a thorough understanding of the capabilities of ETAP in regards to dynamic and transient of the system.
  • The topics covered in this workshop embrace fundamentals on power system dynamics and stability as well as induction and synchronous machine dynamics. Modeling of their associated control systems such as excitation/AVR, turbine/governor and PSS will be discussed.
  • Induction and synchronous motor dynamic topics cover modelling and testing with parameter estimation, study of effect of transients on machine responses.
  • Additional topics include network and load modeling, steady-state and transient-state stability limits, simulation of system disturbances and actions, effects of system parameters, common transient stability studies such as critical fault clearing time, critical islanding time, protective device settings, bus transfer by checking bus voltage / Hz vector difference, load shedding using frequency relay, etc. Case studies from actual industrial and T&D systems will be included. The course will cover voltage and frequency relay setting from transient simulation responses.
  • Transient examples include stability on a one-unit-to grid system, stability analysis on multi machine systems, Determine Critical Fault clearing time, stability of small local source, fault isolation / system separation, generator start up simulation, hybrid wind diesel system, generator load sharing simulation, synchronous motor operation, field discharge simulation, VFD simulation, reference machine, dynamic load simulations.
  • Parameters of controllers with UDM model will be tuned using dynamic parameter estimation module (DPEM) in ETAP UDM module to fine tune controllers, time constants of gain and other relevant parameters in line with site test records of voltage and frequency responses.
  • Through the hands-on exercises using ETAP, the attendees will acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience to conduct power system dynamic and stability studies for their own systems.
  • An ETAP workstation is provided for each attendee.
All courses are LIMITED to 20 participants, so please register early!

Who should attend

  • ETAP Advanced workshops are recommended for engineers who have taken prior ETAP workshops and/or are proficient in basic functionalities of ETAP.
  • This series of workshops are to employ ETAP in more practical cases and how to fully utilize ETAP capabilities most efficiently to analyze the dynamic behavior of the systems.  Recommended for users who have practical experience with the details of power system modeling, managing 3-dimensional database and utilizing device libraries in the ETAP application, as well as being familiar with performing the transient cases & dynamic analysis.
