OTI has successfully installed and implemented the ETAP Power System Monitoring & Simulation
(PSMS), an intelligent energy management application, for GE
Wind Energy at the Colorado Green Wind Farm facility. ETAP
PSMS implementation includes advanced monitoring and real-time
simulation. The Colorado Green Wind Farm benefits from complete
electrical monitoring of two main substations, including estimated
wind power generation per turbine via real-time state estimation,
monitoring of total facility generation, and the ability to
perform simulations such as power flow and short circuit analyses.
The Colorado Green Wind Farm was originally modeled and designed with ETAP. Built upon this model, metering elements (GE Universal Relays) were added to the offline model and linked with the system for real-time data. Using the OPC server for Mod Bus Ethernet, ETAP PSMS operates seamlessly with the existing system.
“Using the latest GE Universal Relays interconnected through Ethernet to ETAP PSMS, the project completion was a simple task which took less than one day to install,” said Hugo Castro, Senior Electrical Engineer with OTI.
