ITER Standardizes on ETAP for Fusion Power Project |
OTI has announced that the ITER Organization, a joint international research and development project, is using ETAP for the design and analysis of its power system. As a part of the research and development project, ITER’s facility in Cadarache, France, will be the world’s largest experimental site to demonstrate the scientific and technical feasibility of fusion power. |
| |
ETAP is used by ITER for a full spectrum of power system design and analysis. ITER brings together seven funding partners, known as the ITER Parties. These are the European Union (represented by EURATOM), Japan, the People's Republic of China, India, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation and the USA.

Automation Generation Control using ETAP |
An interconnected power system must be equipped with an on-line Automatic Generation Control (AGC) system to maintain frequency, security, and economical operation by adjusting the outputs of the controlled generators while honoring the scheduled power exchange with the power grid.
AGC system requires support from Economic Dispatch and Load Frequency Control schemes. Hence, the use of an accurate power system model is crucial to the development and operation of optimal control strategies used in AGC.

Future Releases of ETAP on DVD |
Future releases of ETAP will be in DVD format. As ETAP is enhanced with more features and capabilities, DVD has become the preferred choice of media among users. Video presentations, step-by-step tutorials, complete user guide, installation instructions, brochures, and other software documentation along with the entire ETAP program will be provided on one DVD as opposed to several CDs. |
