ETAP Student Edition Now Available
to Power System Students Globally

New enhancements to student licensing program will enable increased access to industry-leading software by tomorrow’s engineers

Student Edition IRVINE, Calif. - November 18, 2014 — ETAP®, the leading provider of software solutions for the design, analysis, optimization, and real-time operation of electrical power systems, today announced the newest release of its ETAP Student Edition™ software available to students throughout the world.

The latest new edition of ETAP Student Edition is available to eligible graduate and undergraduate power system engineering students enrolled in universities participating in the ETAP Power Lab program, schools holding an ETAP educational license, or schools with a participating Professor. After registering through their professor, students can download a free academic version of ETAP’s latest software, specially configured for academic use. The new software includes capabilities for building one-line models up to 25 buses, as well as powerful ETAP modules for short circuit analysis; load flow analysis; renewable energy; device coordination / selectivity; and libraries amongst other valuable features.

In addition, ETAP has made it easier than ever for students to get started, with a streamlined new online registration process; it allows students to conveniently download a renewable six-month license, making ETAP software even more widely accessible to engineering students around the world. Details on the program are available at etap.com/student.

ETAP has maintained a strong commitment to power system engineering education since being founded nearly 30 years ago by Dr. Farrokh Shokooh, who previously served on the faculty of Louisiana State University (LSU). Through its Power Lab and University programs, ETAP supports higher education by making its software available to thousands of top-ranked electrical engineering schools around the world, all of whom use ETAP as a core component in their power system curriculums.

“There is no better way for students to obtain a quality power system engineering education than to give them access to the latest software applications, and help them become proficient in their use,” said Farrokh Shokooh, President and CEO of ETAP. “Students who’ve set their sights on a career in power system engineering deserve the support of the private sector; ETAP is proud to have been a part of tens of thousands of students’ education over the past three decades.”
