ETAP, Seoul Data System Celebrate
20 Years of Powering Success in Korea

ETAP 20 Years In Korea

IRVINE, Calif. – March 17, 2014 — Morning commuters in Seoul, the bustling capital of South Korea, were struck by a remarkable sight recently: an office building whose upper floors were meticulously wrapped in a festive, brightly-colored 16 meter x 4 meter (52 ft. x 13 ft.) banner.

The building is the headquarters of Seoul Data System Co. Ltd., and the banner was proudly celebrating the Company’s 20th anniversary as the exclusive ETAP® software representative in Korea. ETAP is the leading provider of software solutions for the design, optimization, and on-line operation of mission-critical electrical power infrastructure; since 1994, Seoul Data System has led ETAP’s remarkable entrée into the South Korean marketplace, the 15th largest market economy in the world.

Every decade over the past 50 years, South Korea has consistently been one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, its economic success driven by the manufacture of advanced technology products in fields such as electronics, telecommunications, automobile production, chemicals, shipbuilding, and steel fabrication. All of these fields are immensely power-intensive, requiring massive amount of clean, reliable electricity; this posed an enormous opportunity for ETAP, as public power grids and local private facilities had to be designed to deliver vast quantities of power across the South Korean peninsula.

To lead ETAP’s entrance into the local market, the Company partnered with Seoul Data System. In the two decades that followed, Seoul Data System has emerged as an extremely productive ETAP representative, expanding its operations to provide not just sales, but localized support and training, as well as very popular ETAP User Conferences.

“South Korea's economic success is built upon a foundation of clean, safe electricity to power corporate offices and production facilities across the country,” said Bryan Youn, president of Seoul Data System. “We are very proud to have played a significant role in helping to build our nation's power infrastructure over the past 20 years, by making ETAP software the most widely-used platform in South Korea.”

“ETAP software and Seoul Data System have played a measurable role in South Korea’s economic success over the past 20 years, by ensuring that public electrical power services – and the infrastructure supporting private enterprises – were as safe, reliable, and energy efficient as possible,” said Tanuj Khandelwal, Executive Vice President of Technology for ETAP. “We are very proud of the contributions ETAP technology has made in furthering South Korea’s economic success, and look forward to continued accomplishments working with our colleagues at Seoul Data System.”
