Incorporated in 1986, ETAP released the first version of Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) power system analysis and design software. Today, ETAP is recognized as the global market leader in providing solutions for power systems analysis, design, simulation, operation, control, optimization, and automation.

OTI Company Photo In 1996 ETAP released the first, true 32-bit, power system analysis program on the market for Windows. ETAP is designed for Microsoft Windows and contains many advanced features including ODBC, multidimensional database, composite network nesting, and more.

ETAP developed ETAP Real-Time to provide online (real-time) monitoring, simulation, control, and supervisory control capabilities. ETAP Real-Time uses real-time data and system topology (ETAP database) to estimate unmonitored power flows and voltages throughout the system.

Along with aggressive development and product maintenance, ETAP utilizes a highly specialized team of engineers to conduct research and development projects as well as system studies.

In recent years, ETAP has grown to include specialized consultants, design engineers, cutting-edge programmers, and an experienced sales staff. ETAP will continue to meet its clients' needs by incorporating the latest advances in technology into both software development and engineering services.

    Operation Technology, Inc. is Established

    ETAP has its first release of ETAP DOS 1.0

    ETAP attains Nuclear Certification

    First Installment of ETAP Real-Time is implemented

    ETAP releases DOS 6.5

    ETAP releases DOS 7.1

  • 1995

    ETAP releases DOS 7.3

    ETAP get's ISO 9001 Certification

  • 1996

    ETAP 1.0 is released

    It's the first Power Analysis Program for Windows 32-bit systems

  • 1998

    ETAP 2.0 is released

    Major new feature is Power System Monitoring & Simulation (PSMS)

    ETAP 3.0 is released

    Major new features contain the following modules: Harmonic Analysis, DC System, Generator Startup, Optimal Power Flow

    First Annual ETAP Nuclear Conference is held

    ETAP 4.0 is released

    Major new features contain the following modules: Reliability Analysis, Ground Grid Design, Panel Systems, UDM, ETAP DataX

    OTI, Far-East Office is opened

    ETAP Learning Center is established

    Major new features contain the following modules: Control Circuit Diagram, Unbalanced Load Flow, Line Sag & Tension, Arc Flash Analysis, ETAP GIS, ETAP Star Device Coordination

    New Modules added to ETAP include: Energy Management System (EMS), Intelligent Load Shedding (ILS), and ETAP ARTTS Relay Testing Hardware

  • 2006

    ETAP 5.5 is released

    New release contains Chinese Version, and Japanese Version

    New Module: Intelligent Substation (iSub)

  • 2007

    ETAP 5.6 is released

    ETAP Solution Provider Program is established

    New Module: Automatic Generation Control (AGC)

  • 2008

    ETAP 6.0 is released

    Major New Features include: Renewable Energy, BS 7671 Cable Sizing, Data Comparator, and Report Analyzer

    ETAP receives CSE, Product of the Year Award

    ETAP 7.0 is released

    Major New Features include: Smart Grid Solutions, Single-Phase Arc Flash, Switching Sequence Management, and Load Analyzer

  • 2010

    ETAP 7.5

    Multiple Language Support

    Localized languages include English, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese plus translated output reports in six languages including German and Portuguese.

  • 2011

    ETAP 11.0

    New major release includes ETAP Project Merge, ETAP Data Manager, UDM Logic Editor, Photovoltaic Array Editor, Protective Conductor Sizing and many more new features.

  • 2012

    ETAP 11.1

    New major release includes ETAP DC Arc Flash Module, Conversion tool from Dapper® PTW32 versions 6.0 & 6.5, Import from PSS®E version 29 & 30, Updated cable library based on NEC® 2008, New cable library based on British Standard, New protective device library, Multi Language Edition and many more new features.

  • 2013

    ETAP 12.0

    New major release includes Interharmonics, Open Phase Fault, Built-in conversions from SKM® Dapper® & Captor® and EasyPower®, DC Photovoltaic Panels, Batch Cable Management, over 4,800 newly added library devices, Multi-language Edition and many more new features and capabilities.
