Power System Automation (ETAP 185) is a hands-on workshop that provides the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary to become proficient in setup, capabilities, operation, installation, and maintenance of ETAP Real-Time™ ILS, EMS, and iSub. It is the only course at this time to receive practical experience with ETAP Real-Time and become familiar with power system automation solutions.
The workshop will take place in Irvine, CA, from Dec 6-10, 2010. It is tailored for electrical engineers, automation engineers, maintenance, and operations personnel involved in the automation, system stability, control, and protection of electrical networks. Here is a breakdown of the week-long course:
Day 1 - ETAP Real-Time Overview
Day 2 - Intelligent Load Shedding
Day 3 - Intelligent Load Shedding
Day 4 - Automatic Generation Control (Area Control Error, Economic Dispatch, Interchange Scheduling)

ETAP Scholarship Program Available for Power Engineering Students
We have announced a new academic scholarship program to motivate and attract electrical engineering students in the power system engineering field.
The goal of the ETAP scholarship program is to assist students reach their educational goals through financial support and practical experience using ETAP software in universities worldwide. The scholarship program is targeting students whose focus of study is in Power System Design & Analysis, Power Management System, Smart Grid Technology, Renewable Energy, and related fields.
In addition to the scholarship amounts to be awarded, ETAP will also be extending an invitation to each of the scholarship recipients to participate in an ETAP 115 Power System Engineering Workshop. This 5-day training session will serve to supplement students’ experiences using ETAP in a classroom setting by exploring the skills, knowledge, and techniques required to develop a thorough understanding of power engineering.
